museum description

Amber Museum

The museum exhibition, located on two floors, shows various aspects of amber – from its natural inclusions, through the traditions of amber craftsmanship, to its applications in medicine, art and scientific research. After moving to a new location, Wielki Młyn, in 2021, the museum gained a much larger area, which allowed it to expand its collection of exhibits.

In the new location, the Amber Museum presents unique animal inclusions, such as the “Gierłowska Lizard”, an amber lump containing a mummified lizard from 40 million years ago. In addition, the collection includes the largest lump of amber weighing 68 kg, amber chess from the 17th century and other valuable artistic works made of amber. This is a place where you can explore the history and richness of this unique raw material and its importance in art and crafts over the centuries.
